Lalman Shukla Vs. Gauri Dutt
Gauridutt sent his servant Lalman to trace his missing nephew. He then announced that anybody who traced his nephew would be entitled to a certain reward. Lalman traced the boy in ignorance of this announcement. Subsequently when he came to know of the reward, he claimed it.
It was held that Lalman Shukla was not entitled to the reward because he has no knowledge of the proposal.
An action without the knowledge of the proposal is no acceptance and does not confer any rights on acceptor.
Also communication of offer to offeree is an essential to a valid offer.
